Why do you write?
Some say you can write a book in one weekend. But if it is really workable. Is it liking to a toothache or a headache to be gotten over and quickly forgotten? Possibly you need the short version. Where everything is concise and will be over before you know it. After you complete your book, you have the option to publish it on Amazon and other sites without any fanfare. To you, the reader is some nameless person with no feelings, no dreams, and indeed, no life.
Each morning, and perhaps several times a day, you check on the book’s progress. No movement, no sales. You doubt yourself and your ability as an author.
Let me give you a new concept. One that may change your perspective on why you write. Everyone who reads your writing is a living, breathing human being. They were born the same way you were. As a child, they played with toy trucks or dolls. They went to school. They are flesh and blood and have feelings with hopes dreams. Most, if not all, have children. They have hopes and dreams for their children or grandchildren. They have disappointments and sorrows.
They are not a number on a page or a few dollars in the bank. They are a partner in this endeavor called writing. You are creating a masterpiece in their mind. You, my friend, have the power to make them weep, rejoice, fear, and to fall in love all within the comfort of their home. A talented artist takes their time making sure the portrait is just right and will resonate with the viewer. If your motivation is fame and fortune. You may gain this. However, if you lose the friendship of the reader, you have lost what is the most important.
